I know this will irritate some of you(you know who you are) , but please read this before raging.
This isn't going to be like my other stories. I'm not particularly happy with all of the writing in my stories on here. If you read from the very first thing I posted (Rapture in Hades) with an unbiased view, you'll see that as I continue,
most of it has gotten worse as I continue on. What started as a way for me to improve my writing became a way for me to throw whatever ideas I have onto the internet.
The way I had been writing was to throw it up as soon as I had it written. I was making the story up as I go along (not a good way to write, I know, but I had never done it/learned to do it any other way), and not taking the time to reread and revise them, as well as making sure I knew where it was going. I lost control of my own stories, so to speak.
Well, I intend to start actually improving with this new story. I'm starting by recording my ideas, planning, keeping a chart of what I do and don't want to be part of it. I'm even making a rough outline for it. I'll be adding to my notes as I go along, and might put some of them on here, if anybody is interested.
I also want to make this story darker, and more mature (not that I would say my others are particularly immature, but making sure that everything is simple and doesn't offend those of "delicate constitutions" is a little stifling. And I don't care much for censorship, either). As such, expect things in this to seem a bit more violent and vulgar. Also, if you are going to read it, be prepared to have ideas you hold dear challenged. The major things I'm going to focus on in this story are going to be perspective and perception, and the way I see things are very different from the majority of people, so if you can't handle a criticism of your general philosophy of life, I suggest you don't read this new story.
I'm going to post the first chapter once it's finished (and when I read over it to make sure I won't be ashamed of it later), but don't expect the rest of it for a while. Once I have written a significant amount of it and I'm happy with it, I'll begin to
slowly post chapters periodically, but again, don't expect a lot to happen quickly.
I still want to rewrite Rapture in Hades as well, but that will continue to be a while. Sorry to whoever is still expecting more, it'll happen eventually! (I'm such a procrastinator. To emphasize this final point, there are three essays and two projects that have to be done in the next couple weeks that I should be finishing [yes, I have done work on them already] while I'm typing this.)
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
ALSO: any help with names will be appreciated.
Edit: I've come up with a system. Once I finish writing a chapter (or just a chunk of the story), I will proofread it at least twice in the next few days, making changes, then I'll type it up, then proofread it a couple times on printer paper. Hopefully, all the rereading and editing will improve the quality of my writing
